I’m very excited about the brand new juice product from Amazon Herb Company, ZAMU. It’s unlike anything else on the market right now.
It is certified organic, with no added preservatives, and includes only the 7 ingredients listed on the company’s site and promotion materials, all of which are included for their specific value. The Amazon Herb Company works in the Amazon sustainably harvesting herbs in partnership with the indigenous communities, and has been committed for its 18-year history to empowering those communities.
Lots of people have tried to get me interested in superfruit juice drinks like Xango, Monavie, and Zrii both as a customer and as a business builder. But before Zamu I wasn’t even interested in drinking them, much less telling other people about them.
Xango didn’t really excite me as a product or as a company. The flavor was ok but nothing exciting, and the company’s philosophy and practices didn’t make me want to get involved or support it. And the ingredient list turned me off, with filler juices, “natural flavor” and a chemical preservative included.
I really liked the taste of Monavie, and liked the work the company seems to be doing to help in the rainforest, but the ingredient list had the same issus as Xango. Also as far as a business opportunity, I wasn’t comfortable as a vegan with the fact that some of the products include shellfish ingredients.
Zrii was the most recent of these products to come out. Unlike the other two, it didn’t have chemical preservatives, and received the endorsement of the Chopra Center. It is promoted as an ayurvedic formula with 7 key ingredients. But first my friend who’s an ayurvedic practioner told me that under ayurvedic principles you would not combine all those ingredients together. Then “Health Ranger” Mike Adams reported that the product is mostly cheap filler juices in contrast with the company’s literature and site which make it seem like only the 7 ayurvedic components are included. (Read more here.) And the taste didn’t excite me.
I’m already a distributor for Amazon Herb Company, though it’s a very small part of my business at this point, and I focus mainly on products to help animals. But I’m definitely anxious to try Zamu and start spreading the word. I’ve placed my first Zamu order, and will post more here once I’ve tried it.
